LOVE IS LOVE

On June 1, 2016, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made history when he raised the multicolour Pride flag on Ottawa’s Parliament Hill to mark Pride Month. The rainbow flag—the iconic symbol of the LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) community—will fly across the country again this year to honour sexual diversity, gender variance and equal rights for all Canadians. While you can find Pride events from coast to coast, it’s an especially exciting year for Montreal: The city will host the first Canada Pride, a 10-day festival with a “rich social, gastronomic, sporting and festive program” this summer. (A different Canadian city will host Canada Pride every four years.)
