Sweet Nothings

-

If summer bodies are created in winter, then don’t sabotage hard-earned sweat sessions once warmer weather arrives. This season, we’re taking a cue from the Soda Free Summer campaign that launched in the San Francisco Bay Area with the goal to reduce or eliminate the consumption of sweetened drinks. Why the squeeze on pop? In 2015, the World Health Organization recommended that adults and children reduce their sugar intake to no more than 12 teaspoons daily. But according to Statistics Canada, on average, we’re consuming 26 teaspoons of sugar a day. A can of pop has up to 10 teaspoons, which means you’ll make a big dent in your daily allowance with just one sugary drink. Instead, carry a water bottle and refill it throughout the day with tap or sparkling water.
