like mother, like daughter
My late mother, shown here with eight-year-old me, was something special. She was elegance itself, stylishly dressed, perfectly manicured and never caught without a fresh coat of her signature carmine-red lipstick. Our home was as polished as she was, always ready for an impromptu fête. This apple didn’t fall as close to the tree as she would have liked, but my mom’s encouraging voice lives on in my mind, and I’m forever striving to emulate this immaculate being. Come May, my heartstrings get issue of Canadian Living is dedicated to all things chic, just as my mother would have had it.
