If your hair does whatever it wants and you struggle to control frizz, you might want to think twice about a heavily layered look, warns Stéphan W. “Bobs and full lengths allow for better control of unruly hair,” he adds. For a frizz-free look, apply an anti-frizz styling serum or cream every time you style.

COLOUR

Since frizz generally appears when you have dehydrated hair, avoid aggressive bleaching, which tends to damage the hair and requires multiple applications to maintain the look. “Choose a shade no more than two shades lighter than your natural colour if you’re looking to lighten your hair,” advises the hair colour expert. Another option: tone-on-tone colouring without ammonia, for example, a gloss. This type of colouring is softer and contains emollient agents that will treat the hair while subtly colouring it.

TREATMENT

“To treat frizz, you need to determine the cause of it,” says Michaud. “Is it humidity, static or, often, dehydration?” Depending on the analysis, you can act at the source. In case of capillary dryness, too frequent washing should be avoided. Two shampoos a week are often sufficient. “The more natural oils are removed, the more frizz you’ll see,” says Stéphan W. To remedy this, use a moisturizing mask a few times a month.
