CALGARY MARAT HON

-

“The Calgary Marathon has been giving out (marathon and 50k) finisher’s medals that double as belt buckles, which can be worn at the Calgary Stampede, since the mid-90s,” said the race’s executive director Kirsten Fleming. The medals, handed out by real cowboys, feature a different theme each year, and in 2016, Fleming worked with designer Marc Morin on the Superheroes medal.

For Canada’s 150th anniversary in 2017, finishers “can expect to get a commemorative toonie medal that can be worn on your belt to show your Canadian pride,” said Fleming. Confederation 150k solo and relay finishers will also be presented with a uniquely Canadian medal.
