Hoka One One Arahi
$170; Men’s 264 g (9.3 oz.), Women’s 215 g (7.6 oz.); Drop ratio: 5 mm The company that kicked off the “maximalist” movement has grown to be a major player in the running scene. This new offering is technically yet another neutral cushioning shoe. But Hoka has slipped in a bit of pronation support. They achieve this by incorporating a slightly firmer midsole material in the heel and along the medial side. Hoka also opts for an overly wide midfoot design to deliver a stable, torsioncontrolled ride. All this and the Arahi manages to do so while still being remarkably light and soft.
Our testers who previously reported they needed a bit of support for their everyday trainer really appreciated the novel design of the Arahi. A clever new addition to Hoka’s fleet of max cushioning shoes.
