Hoka One One Clayton 2

-

$190; Men’s 235 g (8.3 oz.), Women’s 198 g (7 oz.); Drop ratio: 4 mm The Clayton is back and it appears that Hoka is paying close attention to the feedback it was getting from its ardent fanbase. This slightly lighter, more nimble “maximalist” trainer had a decent debut, but some fixes were needed, especially with the fit around the arch.

Hoka is very good at designing comfy and light uppers, and the Clayton 2 looks and feels fantastic around the foot. Hoka recognized that some runners were experiencing irritation where the upper connected with the inline area of the arch, so they smoothed it out. Underfoot, Hoka uses a rubber replacement material they call RMAT, which they claim is lighter, snappier and more resilient. The dual-density midsole has been tweaked, firming up the forefoot, with a softer foam in the heel. Hoka’s Clayton 2 is all about improving its details.
