Grizzlies and humans just need to get along: new report
Habitat loss, conflict with humans and lack of government intervention were three threats facing British Columbia’s grizzlies listed in a Grizzly Bear Foundation report. It found that the bears are being threatened by humans. Of course, some humans would say it’s the grizzlies doing the threatening.
Although the bears have the capacity to hurt humans, the report notes, they mainly end up in places where humans live because of habitat loss. Another big problem is that people don’t take the necessary steps to keep bears away, like keeping garbage out of reach. Teaching people more about bears is at the top of the report’s recommendations. Visit grizzlybearfoundation.com for more.
