Island filmmaker wins talent award
HALIFAX — A Cape Breton filmmaker is this year’s recipient of the emerging artist award in the annual 10x10 Music & Image video competition at the 2013 Atlantic Film Festival.
Matthew Ingraham, originally from Sydney and now owner of Renegade Entertainment in Halifax, accepted the award after winning the competition that featured the pairing of 10 musicians and 10 filmmakers assigned to complete a music video in under five days.
Ingraham’s winning video entry “Paradise” featured Moncton artist Shaun Leblanc. The contest, sponsored by RBC, came with a $10,000 prize which is divided between the artist and the director.
“It’s great to be recognized for my talent and craft by the festival,” said Ingraham, adding he was deeply honoured by the win given the talent involved in the competition.
Ingraham is a graduate of the Vancouver Film School and has been producing videos since a young age. He founded Renegade Entertainment in 2012. The company specializes in production of music videos, films, documentaries and live events.
Since creating the company, Ingraham has collaborated with a host of musicians producing music videos for a list of artists from a variety of genres.
“I am expanding my companies across the province this year, Focusing more of my energy into my film productions. As the award suggests, I am an emerging filmmaker so you can expect a lot more on screen from Renegade Entertainment.”
