Whitney Pier

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Brenda Costigan on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at her home.

Born on Nov. 26, 1956, in Sydney, Brenda was the daughter of late Michael and Agnes (Whelan) Costigan.

Mom was our angel. She sacrificed so much of herself for her children and everyone she loved. She loved us more than anything in this world, and we loved her more than words can say. She was beautiful, kind, generous, and caring.

Brenda leaves behind her children, Krista (Shaun), Raymond (Danielle), and Mark (Rebekah); stepchildren, Dwayne, Gary Jr., Lorraine ( Joey), Carey (Rob), Matthew (Leah), and the love of Brenda’s life for the last 22 years, Gary Dalton. She also leaves behind Krista, Raymond, and Mark’s father, Shaun Henick; as well as her brothers and sisters, Joe (Elizabeth), Lorraine, Helen (George), Marie, Linda (Murdock), Mike (Pat), Brian (Debbie), Mary, Nancy (Wayne), Peggy (Arno), John Glen, Beatrice, Martha, and Tom; special grandchildren, Logan, Ethan, Brooklyn, Kaylin and Noah; 11 additional grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Brenda was predeceased by Gary’s mother, Mary Dalton-Smith; niece, Tracey Bartlett; brother, Sam Costigan; and brothers-inlaw, Chalmers MacIntyre and Phil Constantine.
