It is with heavy hearts that we an­nounce the pass­ing of Bev­erly Madonna Ma­cLean, 74, on June 30, 2015, at Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Hos­pi­tal, Syd­ney, with her fam­ily by her side. Born in Syd­ney, she was the daugh­ter of the late Wil­liam and Win­nifred (Nu­gent) MacNeill.

In her early years Bev­erly was a High­land dancer and a mem­ber of the Gaelic Col­lege Mac­Don­ald 100 pipers. Bev­erly’s doors were al­ways open to fam­ily and friends, es­pe­cially the neigh­bour­hood kids. Bev­erly’s great­est joy was be­ing a mother and a grand­mother, es­pe­cially to her pre­cious grand­chil­dren and her favourite pet Benji.

Bev­erly is sur­vived by daugh­ters, Shel­ley (Greg) Pen­ney and Jean (Philip Snow); son, Ralph; grand­chil­dren, Matthew, Me­lanie, Bri­anne and Brett.

She was pre­de­ceased by son, Kevin, broth­ers, Leroy, and one brother in in­fancy, nephew, Bill, and the joy of her life, her grand­fa­ther, Rod­d­er­ick MacNeill, whom she will be buried with.

As Bev­erly re­quested there will be no vis­i­ta­tion. A pri­vate fam­ily ser­vice will be held. In­ter­ment in Sa­cred Heart Ceme­tery, John­stown.

It is with heavy hearts that we an­nounce the pass­ing of our mother, He­lena Joe on June 30, 2015, at the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Hos­pi­tal, Syd­ney, with her lov­ing fam­ily by her side. Born in Why­co­co­magh, she was the daugh­ter of the late Frank and Mary Belle (Bernard) Dennis.

Mother en­joyed play­ing TV bingo with her son Glen and play­ing cards with friends. He­lena loved hav­ing visi­tors, es­pe­cially her grand­chil­dren and great-grand­chil­dren. She was a for­mer ladies aux­il­lary mem­ber and a cur­rent El­der group par­tic­i­pant.

She is sur­vived by her chil­dren, Vin­cent, Pa­tri­cia ( James), Cather­ine (Stephen), Rose, Veron­ica (Frank), Eleanor (Char­lie), Troy, Glen, Pauline (adopted), John ( foster son); step­son, Paul (Char­lene); 27 grand­chil­dren, 33 great-grand­chil­dren, 12 god­chil­dren; sib- lings, Ma­bel, Paula, Joyce, Wendy, Peggy, Clay­ton and Lyn­don and by her best friends, Sr. Veron­ica Matthews, Viney Sapier, Mary Goo­goo and Loretta Syl­li­boy.

He­lena was pre­de­ceased by her hus­band, Levi Joe; daugh­ter, Theresa Mar­shall; sons, Noel and Joseph; two in­fant daugh­ters; grand­son, An­drew, and grand­daugh­ter, Katie; great­grand­chil­dren, Noel and Ken­dren; and by sib­lings, Denise, Stephen, Fran­cis, An­thanuis, Perry and Joe.

Vis­i­ta­tion for the late He­lena Joe will be­gin af­ter 7 p.m. on Sun­day, July 5, at her home 97– 74th St., Eska­soni. Fu­neral mass will be cel­e­brated at 10:30 a.m. on Tues­day, July 7, at Holy Fam­ily Church with Rev. An­gus MacDougall of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment in the parish ceme­tery.
