MACLEAN, Beverly Madonna (MacNeill)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beverly Madonna MacLean, 74, on June 30, 2015, at Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her family by her side. Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late William and Winnifred (Nugent) MacNeill.

In her early years Beverly was a Highland dancer and a member of the Gaelic College MacDonald 100 pipers. Beverly’s doors were always open to family and friends, especially the neighbourh­ood kids. Beverly’s greatest joy was being a mother and a grandmothe­r, especially to her precious grandchild­ren and her favourite pet Benji.

Beverly is survived by daughters, Shelley (Greg) Penney and Jean (Philip Snow); son, Ralph; grandchild­ren, Matthew, Melanie, Brianne and Brett.

She was predecease­d by son, Kevin, brothers, Leroy, and one brother in infancy, nephew, Bill, and the joy of her life, her grandfathe­r, Rodderick MacNeill, whom she will be buried with.

As Beverly requested there will be no visitation. A private family service will be held. Interment in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Johnstown.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Helena Joe on June 30, 2015, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with her loving family by her side. Born in Whycocomag­h, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Belle (Bernard) Dennis.

Mother enjoyed playing TV bingo with her son Glen and playing cards with friends. Helena loved having visitors, especially her grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren. She was a former ladies auxillary member and a current Elder group participan­t.

She is survived by her children, Vincent, Patricia ( James), Catherine (Stephen), Rose, Veronica (Frank), Eleanor (Charlie), Troy, Glen, Pauline (adopted), John ( foster son); stepson, Paul (Charlene); 27 grandchild­ren, 33 great-grandchild­ren, 12 godchildre­n; sib- lings, Mabel, Paula, Joyce, Wendy, Peggy, Clayton and Lyndon and by her best friends, Sr. Veronica Matthews, Viney Sapier, Mary Googoo and Loretta Sylliboy.

Helena was predecease­d by her husband, Levi Joe; daughter, Theresa Marshall; sons, Noel and Joseph; two infant daughters; grandson, Andrew, and granddaugh­ter, Katie; greatgrand­children, Noel and Kendren; and by siblings, Denise, Stephen, Francis, Anthanuis, Perry and Joe.

Visitation for the late Helena Joe will begin after 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, at her home 97– 74th St., Eskasoni. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, at Holy Family Church with Rev. Angus MacDougall officiatin­g. Interment in the parish cemetery.
