It is with great sadness we, the family, announce the passing of Thomas Brushett, 91, of Victoria Mines at Taigh Na Mara on June 30, 2015.

Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Ernest and Victoria (White) Brushett. Tom was a resident of Taigh Na Mara for the past five years.

He was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas in Italy, Holland and Belgium. Tom was also a member of Branch 12 Legion, Sydney, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing guitar and dancing to a good tune.

He is survived by children, Billy (Maureen), Thomas (Eva), Betty ( Jimmy), David (Nancy), Brian ( Jessie), Clarence ( Janet); brother Fred White; sisters, Elsie Cook, Myrtle McLellan, Ruth MacEachern, Laurie Watters; 16 grandchild­ren; 19 great-grand- children; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Tom was predecease­d by his wife, Mary Louise Ellen (Ivy), son Michael, in infancy, son Gordon, daughter Irma, brother Gord.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Monday, July 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiatin­g. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Victoria Mines.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
