Vic­to­ria Mines

It is with great sad­ness we, the fam­ily, an­nounce the pass­ing of Thomas Brushett, 91, of Vic­to­ria Mines at Taigh Na Mara on June 30, 2015.

Born in New Water­ford, he was a son of the late Ernest and Vic­to­ria (White) Brushett. Tom was a res­i­dent of Taigh Na Mara for the past five years.

He was a vet­eran of the Sec­ond World War serv­ing over­seas in Italy, Hol­land and Bel­gium. Tom was also a mem­ber of Branch 12 Le­gion, Syd­ney, and en­joyed fish­ing, hunt­ing, play­ing guitar and danc­ing to a good tune.

He is sur­vived by chil­dren, Billy (Mau­reen), Thomas (Eva), Betty ( Jimmy), David (Nancy), Brian ( Jessie), Clarence ( Janet); brother Fred White; sis­ters, Elsie Cook, Myr­tle McLel­lan, Ruth MacEach­ern, Lau­rie Wat­ters; 16 grand­chil­dren; 19 great-grand- chil­dren; many nieces and neph­ews.

Be­sides his par­ents, Tom was pre­de­ceased by his wife, Mary Louise Ellen (Ivy), son Michael, in in­fancy, son Gor­don, daugh­ter Irma, brother Gord.

There will be no vis­i­ta­tion. Cre­ma­tion has taken place un­der the care and di­rec­tion of V.J. McGil­livray Fu­neral Home, 380 Smith St., New Water­ford. A fu­neral ser­vice will be held in the fu­neral home chapel on Mon­day, July 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Nor­man MacPhee of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial will fol­low in St. Alphonsus Ceme­tery, Vic­to­ria Mines.
