Re : My heart is broken, says father of Reserve Mines shooting victim — June 30

I am so happy that ( family members) had the chance to let everyone know what their son, nephew and student really was. This is the first thing that I have read in the media that has actually made me feel good about being a Cape Bretoner. The heartache may take lots of time to ease up if at all but I hope they can find comfort in the memories of Brandon.

Wow, I love that photo of the 1935 Ford Tudor! Such style, elegance & grace!

Re: Proposed Mother Canada monument provokes war of words over statue — June 30

The people of Igonish realize the potential for this great monument. They realize it will bring some economic benefit to their area and they also realize this is a badly underutilized park. I am sure the people of Cheticamp at the other end of the park with the closed Tim’s realize the same thing.

Re: Reunion brings together people who attended elementary school in shipyard area — June 29

I remember Argyle School well. It is where I went to shop classes while attending Woodill Jr. High. I still have two pieces I made. A two-shelf mahogany coffee table and a small wooden pine bedroom table.

I remember the ‘ boys side’ and the’ girls side’ of the school, the school ‘monitors’ with the white belts, dodge ball in the front yard and baseball in the back lot facing School Street. The good old days for sure!

Re: Time for a Canada Day pledge — June 29

Our history is very badly tarnished by the treatment of First Nations. Dr. Jim Guy, thanks for this (column).

Re: Benefits system flawed, says reader — June 28

Seems to me it’s not up to the Department of Community Services “to help people get ahead.” That responsibility lies on the individual. Of course that’s just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Re: Glace Bay man encouraging people to attend rally to help save daycare, Monday — June 30

The business just isn’t there! Makes sense to close it down. If you only have half the amount of kids needed to keep it open the solution is a simple one. Double the fees!!!

—The Great Mr. Know it all

Best day care ever! My daughter went there for several years and loved it. Had to take her back for occasional visits when she started school. Administrator and staff of the highest calibre. Treated children as if they were their own. So good there should be a long waiting list! Always!

Re: Summer concerts back on at Wentworth Park — July 3

A great big thanks to the CBRM people, musicians and others who put this music lineup together. I am sure there are more great things to happen there.
