One dead, one injured in pair of motorcycle collisions
A 24-year-old Tatamagouche man was killed in an early morning motorcycle collision Sunday.
At approximately 4:45 a.m., Colchester RCMP, Emergency Health Services paramedics and firefighters with the Tatamagouche Fire Department responded to the call.
A preliminary investigation determined the male rider was traveling westbound on Highway 6 when he lost control of his motorcycle near the Main Street intersection. He was found in a driveway and pronounced deceased at the scene.
An RCMP traffic analyst was on site to assist investigators and the intersection was closed for several hours.
The fatal motorcycle collision was the second in Colchester County over the weekend.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday, a 19-year-old was transported to hospital with serious injuries after colliding with a deer on the Onslow Mountain Road.
In that investigation, officers determined the Belmont man was travelling eastbound from Belmont when he hit the deer. He was found in the middle of the roadway, with the deceased deer in the westbound lane.
No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Paramedics transported the man to the Colchester East Hants Health Centre before he was airlifted to the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. He remains in critical condition.
