HOCKEY: Northside and District Minor Hockey Associatio­n is accepting coaching applicatio­ns for the upcoming season. All applicants must have up to date coach certificat­ion and child abuse registry check. Coaches applying for positions should check their E- hockey accounts to see that all their credential­s are up to date. No applicatio­ns will be accepted without the proper paperwork. Applicatio­ns are available at the minor hockey office, or by contacting any board member. • Vics Hockey Skills summer camp, Aug. 17-22, Emera Centre Northside. Novice to midget divisions. For ages five-19, novice to high school, boys and girls. Begins Aug. 10 at Centre 200. Fee is $239 and includes 11 hours of ice time and jersey. SLOPITCH: The Coors Light Bulldogs mens slopitch team and the Main Event Beverage Room will host the 12th annual Butch Kelloway Memorial Scholarshi­p Men's Slopitch Tournament, July 17-19 in Glace Bay. A total of $38,000 in proceeds has been donated to Glace Bay High School over the past eleven years from this event. Entrance fee is $300 per team. Cash prizes will be awarded based on the number of teams entered. All teams are guaranteed four games, including at least one playoff game in either the 'A' or 'B' division. To register, call Brian at 902-562-1915 or George at 902-595-0384. GOLF: The Bell Aliant Opening Tournament will take place on Saturday and Sunday at Lingan Golf and Country Club. Two person team event with best ball on Saturday and scramble on Sunday. Meal by Flavor 19 will follow play on Sunday. Cost is $30 per player for members and $50 per player for non-members plus HST.
