BASEBALL: The New Waterford Big Daddy's Pizza Reds midget 'A' baseball team is hosting the Mid-Season Classic beginning today and running through Sunday. The five-team tournament will feature Nova Scotia's Under-21 female baseball team. All games are at the Gerry Marsh Ball Field in New Waterford. See the schedule in our Scoreboard section. DARTS: Meat darts will be held tonight at the Donkin legion starting at 7 p.m. Cost is $8 per person for members and guests. First place will take home hams.

The TrackPlus program will be every Tuesday and Thursday, 4-5 p.m., Atlantic Street Field in Sydney. Registrati­on is $75 for new participan­ts and $40 for participan­ts who were members of the winter program. Sessions will end on Aug. 13. HOCKEY: Cape Breton County Minor Hockey Associatio­n will have an early registrati­on for the upcoming season on Sunday, 6-8 p.m., at the County Arena. Future registrati­on dates are Aug. 16, 9-11 a.m., and Aug. 30, 6-8 p.m., at the Country Arena. • Northside and District Minor Hockey Associatio­n is accepting coaching applicatio­ns for the upcoming season. All applicants must have up-to-date coach certificat­ion and child abuse registry check. Coaches applying for positions should check their e-hockey accounts to see that all their credential­s are up to date. Applicatio­ns are available at the minor hockey office, or by contacting any board member. • Mike Perry 3-on-3 Summer Hockey League registrati­on open. For ages five-19, novice to high school, boys and girls. Begins Aug. 10 at Centre 200. Fee is $239 and includes 11 hours of ice time and jersey.
