Colonels punch ticket to nationals

The Glace Bay McDonald’s Colonels won the third and deciding game 13-3 over Lancaster, N.B., to win the Maritime Major Little League championship on Sunday in Glace Bay. Tye Clarke pitched a threehitter in the win. Liam Burke hit a double and added three singles, while Gavin MacQueen launched a home run and swatted a double. Parker Hanrahan had a home run and single, Jack Cashen picked up a double and single, and Mitchell MacDonald hit a double. The Colonels advance to the 2015 Canadian Little League Championship in Ottawa, Aug. 5-16.
