Bo­knows Mom­n­granny wins at North­side Downs

Bo­knows Mom­n­granny picked up his first win of the sea­son, tak­ing the af­ter­noon win­ners over in 2:00.2 to high­light an 11-dash card of har­ness rac­ing Satur­day at North­side Downs.

Driven by Greg Spar­ling for owner Butch Hawco, Bo­knows Mom­n­granny cleared to the lead be­fore the three quar­ters, and en­joyed a three-length lead head­ing into the stretch. Sil­ver Dragon and Got faith in cowboys, who would fin­ish sec­ond and third, closed to within a length of the leader at the fin­ish, but would get no closer. Lils Des­tiny, I Am Able, and Pic­to­nian Speed rounded out the field of six.

Driver Colin Kelly recorded two wins on the card to lead all driv­ers. Dusty Lane Royal won his third on the sea­son, this time in a new mark of 2:00.1, for Kelly’s first win. The four-yearold stal­lion ral­lied from sixth at the half to win for owner and trainer Leonard MacLel­lan. Im A Sum­bun­nie fin­ished sec­ond, with Pic­to­ni­ans Cyrus third. Kelly ral­lied In The Stu­dio from off the pace as well to win the af­ter­noon’s fi­nal race in 2:02.2. The 10-year-old geld­ing won by a half length over Elec­tric Prince, with Porthill Ian fin­ish­ing third. In The Stu­dio won for the sec­ond time this sea­son, and racked up his 23rd life­time win for own­ers Norm Fian­der and Brent Brad­bury.

Korean War Vet opened the card by pac­ing to a maiden mark of 2:03.4 for Ryan Camp­bell. The three-year-old colt led all the way to win by four lengths over Desable and Heres Har­ley. Peter MacKin­non is the win­ning owner.

Camco Qready paced the fastest mile of the af­ter­noon, go­ing wire to wire in anew mark of 1:59.2 for Ger­ard Kennedy. The six-year-old stal­lion, owned by Stephanie Rich, picked up his eighth life­time win, fin­ish­ing 11 lengths ahead of Prince­town Jory, with Lib­er­tys Gig fin­ish­ing third.

Other win­ners on the card in­cluded: Ri­tas Xam­ple for Kevin Bai­ley in 2:04.1, Gimme Some money for Richie Bary­luk in 2:05.3, J Jet­star for John Wil­lie Beaton in 2:02.4, Loch Mon­ster for Bob Wad­den Jr. in 2:01.4, Snow­bound for Jamie Struthers in 2:04, and Grand­tac­u­lar for Rus­sell Mac­don­ald in 2:02.4, edg­ing out Panda Bear and Ty­mal Tor­rance.

Rac­ing ac­tion re­turns to North­side Downs this com­ing Satur­day, fol­lowed by a hol­i­day Mon­day card on Aug. 3. Post time for both events is 1 p.m.
