Wil­lena Marie ‘ Lena’ Shep­pard, age 73 of Vic­to­ria Mines passed away on Satur­day, July 25, 2015, at the New Water­ford Hos­pi­tal, with her lov­ing fam­ily by her side.

Born in New Water­ford, Wil­lena was a very hum­ble and self­less woman.

She en­joyed all the sim­ple things in life; berry pick­ing, crossword puzzles, read­ing, etc. In ear­lier years, Lena was known as Wil­lena Ro­mard from the Qual­ity Store in New Water­ford. Later on she was em­ployed at the Woolco Store, Syd­ney. Af­ter the birth of her chil­dren, Wil­lena en­joyed be­ing a stay-at-home mom. She spent many hours at the lo­cal rinks watch­ing her boys play hockey.

Wil­lena is sur­vived by her lov­ing hus­band, Jim Shep­pard, one daugh­ter, Carol Ann (Manny), two sons, Mark (Nancy), Blair (Kim), two broth­ers, Frank, Lauchie, four sis­ters, Ann, Shirley, Dorothy, Mary, and five grand­chil­dren, Bre­anna, Han­nah, Lau­ren, Gianna and Dar­ian.

Wil­lena was pre­de­ceased by her fa­ther, Wil­liam Ro­mard, sis­ter, An­nie Mar­garet, aunts, An­nie Ro­mard, Mag­gie Rose Fitz­patrick, Josie Chiasson, grand­par­ents, Medric and Nel­lie Ro­mard (De­veaux), and step­grand­fa­ther, Peter De­veaux.

There will be no vis­i­ta­tion. Cre­ma­tion has taken place un­der the di­rec­tion of V.J. McGil­livray Fu­neral Home, 380 Smith St., New Water­ford. The fu­neral mass, of­fi­ci­ated by Rev. Ray Hunt­ley, is Wed­nes­day at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard Church fol­lowed by a re­cep­tion in St. Leonard Hall.
