MILLEY, Albert Stanford - “Daddy Al”

-

It is with deepest sadness that we regretfully announce the passing of our beloved father, brother, grandfather, greatgrandfather, uncle and friend. “Daddy Al” passed away at the age of 90, surrounded by his loving family, Sunday, July 26, 2015, at the Northside Community Guest Home.

Al worked for the Dominion Coal Company and Devco, in various coal mines, until his retirement. He also worked for some time as a lobster fisherman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and darts, but his greatest joy was spending time with his loving family. Al was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and was a past member of the Tower Road Fire Hall.

Al is survived by his three daughters, Donna (Kenny) Cunningham, Dianne (Doug) Cunningham, Dolores (Keith) Nicoll; his son, Ricky (Chris); 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by sister, Abby Aucoin and brother, Ken.

Besides his parents, Al was predeceased by his wife, Molly (Yates); sons, Albert in infancy and Darren; brothers, Fred, John, William, Absolum, Hubert, James, Thomas, Francis and recently David; sisters, Margaret, Mary, Hazel, Naomi and Janet.

In honouring dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, July 31st, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral service, officiated by Rev. Bob Biggar will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, in the funeral home chapel. A reception will follow the service where everyone is invited to meet with the family. Interment will take place in St. Luke’s United Cemetery, Donkin, at a later date.

As an expression of sympathy for Al, memorial donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
