CURRIE, Rhodena Margaret

-

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rhodena Currie of MacAdam’s Lake, July 7, 2016, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Frenchvale, April 7, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Donald and Mary (MacMullin) Walker.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Michael and nine children, Michael, Wayne (Paula), Donald, Mary (Kurt) Campbell, Chrissy (Dean) Abbass, Gerard (Helen), Jane (Jeff) Mosher, Joanne Bisson (Terry Gracie), Cynthia (Glenn Fraser); 24 grandchildren, 13 greatgrandchildren; her sisters, Mary Jeannette Bennett, Christena (Victor MacDonald) and her beloved dog, Scottie. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Katie Wall and her brothers, John, Dougie and Daniel; daughterin-law, Murdena. She will be sadly missed by her brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Her strong but humble character shone through in all that she did, making a meaningful difference in the lives of all who knew her. With her youthful spirit, she was no stranger to the dance floor, a social butterfly and always the sharpest tarabish player. Her wisdom and wit will never be forgotten. She was an active member for 50 years with the CWL, St. Mary’s Parish, East Bay and always enjoyed evenings spent at Frenchvale Senior Citizens. Her presence and tea biscuits will be missed.

Rhodena studied at Dalhousie University, obtained her certification and worked in Pharmacy at Pollett’s Drug Store for 45 years. A dedicated employee, she made it to work each day from MacAdam’s Lake regardless of weather or road conditions. She spoke often of her coworkers and the fond relationships she had with them.

It is with very heavy hearts that we now say goodbye to our precious wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Rhodena.
