Edward Alexander Vaters, 82, of Glace Bay passed away peacefully on July 6, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

Ed was the son of the late Samuel and Elizabeth (Cole) Vaters.

Edward is survived by his son, Blair (Debra & Holli), Moncton, N.B.; daughters, Beverly Thompson (Jeff, Melissa, Jeff, Lucas Price, Nathan and Julie Thompson), Halifax, N.S., Pauline Mackinnon (Eric, Lianne, Angela, Heather) Brookfield, N.S. He is survived by his loving sisters, Jean (Eric) MacIntosh and Betty Campbell.

Predecease­d by four brothers and two sisters.

Ed loved spending time with his family, He enjoyed life! He was a fun loving man who always brought a smile to your face. He loved the great outdoors, fishing/hunting and he was a fantastic cook. He had a love for caps and wore each of them with pride. Edward will be lovingly missed by all his family and friends.

The family would like to acknowledg­e the wonderful care and support provided by the medical staff at both the Glace Bay Hospital and The Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Memorial service and celebratio­n of Edward’s life will be at 1 p.m. July 10th at Bethel Family Church, 83 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Reception is to follow in the church fellowship room. Interment to take place at Greenwood Cemetery Glace Bay.
