WALKER, David Barry

It is with great sadness that we, the family of David Barry Walker, regret to announce his sudden passing on Monday, July 4, 2016, due to a motor vehicle accident.

Born July 12, 1950, in Sydney, he was a son of the late Angus and Lena (Crane) Walker.

For many years, David was the owner/operator of his own truck with Atlas Van Lines, finishing his career driving for S & M Trucking.

He is survived by his wife, Debby (Hartigan); daughter, Tania (Will) Nicholas, Alta.; son, Chris (Tonya), Sydney; stepdaught­ers, Stephanie Hartigan (Charlie) and Jamie Nicholson; sisters, Violet (Mike) Ostafichuk, Sydney, Lena (Ron) Walker, Ont. and Eleanor (Fred) Collicut, Chester, N.S.; brother, Winston (Gerry), Ont.; 13 grandchild­ren; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, David was predecease­d by his sisters, Anne Ivany, Elsie Walker and Kay Taylor; brothers, George, Ira, Angie, and Lloyd.

A family graveside service will take place in Riverview Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Associatio­n of Nova Scotia.

We would like to thank the staff of the Renal Dialysis Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for the wonderful care they provided David.
