Toronto homicide investigators are on the scene in a quiet east-end neighbourhood where police say three people have died in a crossbow incident.

Police say they received a report of a stabbing at about 1 p.m.

When officers arrived at the home in Scarborough, they found two people without vital signs. A third person was found with significant injuries and was taken to hospital.

Police say all three — two men and a woman — were later pronounced dead. A fourth person was also injured.

Const. David Hopkinson said all three victims had what appeared to be crossbow wounds, adding that the weapon was found nearby on the floor.

Const. Jennifer Sidhu says there were other “things” found in the area that could have been used in the incident.

Police say a man has been taken into custody.

Numerous police and paramedic vehicles were at the scene of the home, and what appeared to be blood was visible from aerial footage shot by local TV station CP24 on a bungalow’s driveway on the treelined street.

Police blocked off streets and cordoned off an area around the home as they investigated.

Sadiya Haque, who lives around the corner from the house where the incident occurred, says the incident scared her.

She says she was surprised this happened in her usually tranquil neighbourhood, adding that most of the people who live on that street are seniors.
