Robbery accused released on conditions

SYDNEY — A North Sydney woman charged in connection with an armed robbery earlier this month in a Sydney parking lot has been released from custody. Brandy Leeann Williams, 36, of Tobin Road, is charged with armed robbery, assault with a weapon (tweezers), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and assault. The charges stem from an incident Sept. 19 in a parking lot off Dorchester Street during which a woman was approached by another female demanding money. Witnesses reported that the female robber claimed to be armed with a used hypodermic needle and would stab the victim if money was not turned over. The victim did give in to the demand and was struck on the hand with the tweezers. Williams was apprehended a short time after the robbery and has been on remand since her arrest. She is now scheduled to enter pleas to the charges during a provincial court appearance set for Oct. 24.
