LEBLANC, Stanley Joseph

-

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, brother, grandfather and greatgrandfather, Stanley Joseph LeBlanc, on Monday, September 19, 2016, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Stanley was the son of the late Arnold and Harriet (Roland) LeBlanc.

In his younger days Stanley spent many years working on the Great Lakes, Devco and National Sea Products. Even after his retirement, he could still be found fishing the ocean with his best friend Buddie or sitting beside it at the Ballast Grounds in North Sydney with his many friends. He was also known to have a nap or two at Lochman’s Beach, while listening to the waves crashing against the rocks. The sea was surely in his blood. Stanley also had a great love for hunting, hockey and guitar.

He is survived by his loving and doting wife of 56 years, Patricia “Patsy” (Harrietha) LeBlanc; seven children, David (Leila), Marlene (William), Alex (Wanda), Linda, Irene (Brent), Juanita (Val), and Anita (Steven) and his special daughters, Kara (Marc) and Guilia “Dooker” (Jon); loving brothers and sisters, Henry (Rosemary), Dorothy (Keith), Leo (Bev), Geneva (Mike), Cecilia (Jim), Michael (Lynda), John (Kim); 17 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be fondly remembered by his friend, Alex LeBlanc, who always had time for tea. Georgie Payne, who was always there to lend a helping hand and his long-time friend and neighbour, Michael Williams, with whom he took many fun hunting trips and searching for him in the Cape Breton Highlands. His cat Phantom, whom he loved dearly, will miss him also.

Besides his parents, Stanley was predeceased by his son, Kenneth “Kenny”; sisters, Margaret (Norm), Annette (Gordie), Patricia and great-grandson, Lincoln Shawn.

A special thank you to Dr. Paul Hickey and the staff of 5th Floor, Northside General Hospital for the wonderful care provided in his final days. Also, much appreciation to the palliative care workers and VON, who assisted in his care at home.

Visitation for Stanley LeBlanc will be held in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines, Friday, September 30, 2016, at 1 p.m.

A celebration of his life will take place at 3 p.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. James Oliver officiating.

A reception will be held in St. Stephen’s Parish Hall, following the service.

Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www. jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
