One of three Glace Bay accused released on conditions

One of three Glace Bay men arrested over the weekend and charged with drug and weapon offences was released on conditions Tuesday.

Michael Norman Knox, 24, of Fourth Street, was released on conditions that include he not possess any weapons and that he refrain from alcohol and all drugs not prescribed him by a physician.

In addition, Knox is prohibited from possessing a cellphone or pager, must adhere to a curfew and is to have no contact with his co-accused.

Jordan William Oakes, 23, of Rankin Street, is now scheduled to have a bail hearing Thursday while Corey James DeCoste, 27, of Oceancrest Drive, is to have a bail hearing Feb. 21.

Knox is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of traffickin­g involving marijuana, cocaine and hashish.

Oakes is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of traffickin­g and single counts of assaulting a police officer, assault, resisting arrest and breaching a court order.

DeCoste is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of traffickin­g and single counts of possession of a firearm with no license, carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a weapon in a careless manner.

The trio was arrested after Cape Breton Regional Police were called to a residence on Oceancrest Drive at around 4 a.m. Sunday with a report that a male was in the area with a gun.
