-

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom today. Eliza Christena (Fitzgerald) Dixon, 80, passed away peacefully in her home, with her loving family by her side on Sunday, February 5, 2017.

Born in White Point on February 16, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Emery and Mary (MacIntosh) Fitzgerald.

At the age of 18 she was married. She became the mother of seven children who she devoted her life to. Eliza was a hardworking fisherman’s wife who ran the household. She took great care of her family.

Eliza lived her life devoted and centered towards her family. She was a strong hearted woman, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Known as Nanny to her grandkids, she always had cookies in her cupboard and chocolate milk in the fridge. Her love for them all will never be forgotten. She took pride in each of them. Eliza held a special bond with her son John, who was always by her side. Some of Eliza’s hobbies included playing cards and Bingo nights. She always enjoyed both. You could always rely on her for a good laugh and witty remarks. She spent many hours enjoying word searches and puzzle books. Eliza was also a member of CWL for 63 years.

Eliza will be missed deeply by her sons, Nelson (Lisa), John, Junior (Ann Marie), Todd (Angie); daughters, Amarlis ‘Muggins’, Marie (Jerry) Briand, Mary (Glenn) Fricker; 18 grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; her sisters; Peggy Purdy, Cape North, Doris (Walt) Fraser, Pleasant Bay, Joyce (Scott) Brown, Dingwall; and five brothers; John, Timmy, Sydney, Hughie ,Daryl (Pam ) Dingwall.
