DAY, Vivian Irene

-

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother and sister, Vivian Irene Day, on Friday, February 3, 2017, at the Northside General Hospital, surrounded by her family, after a brief illness.

Born in Mose Ambrose, Newfoundland on November 7, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Hilda (Knott) Day.

In her early adulthood, she relocated to North Sydney and soon thereafter started a family. Years later, when the youngest of her five children started school, Vivian joined the workforce, employed with Sobeys for many years.

Mom loved her grandchildren. Being called “Nan” was her greatest life accomplishment.

Vivian is lovingly remembered by her family, daughters, Janice Steele; granddaughter, Meghan, Cheryl MacDonald; grandchildren, Joe, Morgan and Brenna (father Brian), Laurie (Danny) Holic; grandchildren, Jordan and Kendra, son Shawn Steele (Karen); grandchildren, Jack, Mark and Julianne; grandchildren, Cheyenne and Matthew Steele (mother Kathy), and sisters, Mary (Derek) Hounsell, Halifax and Annette (Roy) Bennett, North Sydney.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Robbie Steele and her brother, John Day.

Visitation for Vivian Day will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Sydney Mines.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.
