It is with bro­ken hearts that we an­nounce the pass­ing of our dear mother, grand­mother and sis­ter, Vi­vian Irene Day, on Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 3, 2017, at the North­side Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal, sur­rounded by her fam­ily, af­ter a brief ill­ness.

Born in Mose Am­brose, New­found­land on Novem­ber 7, 1942, she was the daugh­ter of the late Frank and Hilda (Knott) Day.

In her early adult­hood, she re­lo­cated to North Syd­ney and soon there­after started a fam­ily. Years later, when the youngest of her five chil­dren started school, Vi­vian joined the work­force, em­ployed with Sobeys for many years.

Mom loved her grand­chil­dren. Be­ing called “Nan” was her great­est life ac­com­plish­ment.

Vi­vian is lov­ingly re­mem­bered by her fam­ily, daugh­ters, Jan­ice Steele; grand­daugh­ter, Meghan, Ch­eryl Mac­Don­ald; grand­chil­dren, Joe, Mor­gan and Brenna (fa­ther Brian), Lau­rie (Danny) Holic; grand­chil­dren, Jor­dan and Ken­dra, son Shawn Steele (Karen); grand­chil­dren, Jack, Mark and Ju­lianne; grand­chil­dren, Cheyenne and Matthew Steele (mother Kathy), and sis­ters, Mary (Derek) Houn­sell, Halifax and An­nette (Roy) Bennett, North Syd­ney.

Be­sides her par­ents, she was pre­de­ceased by her son, Rob­bie Steele and her brother, John Day.

Vis­i­ta­tion for Vi­vian Day will be held on Thurs­day, Fe­bru­ary 9, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. in J. M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main St., Syd­ney Mines.

A pri­vate fam­ily ser­vice will be held at a later date.
