MARSH, Maurina

-

Our hearts break again as we say goodbye to a totally selfless person. Our sister and aunt Maurina passed away peacefully on February 2, 2017 at the Harbourstone Nursing Home in Sydney River. Born in Reserve Mines on May 25, 1926 to Henry and Mary Jane (Kanary) Marsh, she taught school for many years in Reserve, including serving as principal of Tompkins Memorial Elementary School. She constantly demonstrated her love of children through simple acts such as bringing sandwiches to school for children who had little or nothing. Maurina dedicated her life to the service of others, in particular her mother Mary Jane and her family.

Maurina is survived by her sisters, Zita and Marie; brothers, Gannon (Brother Ninian), Fr. Anthony and Joseph and many nieces and nephews.

Maurina was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, James, Alphonse, Dennis, Sylvester, Henry, Stewart and Coady and sisters, Mary Ann, Dolores, Dophie and Gilbert.

The family is thankful to the staff at Soldiers Cove for their kindness and attention.

There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 9 at 11 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Reserve, with Fr. Dan Boudreau officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

-No Tears in Heaven-

There are no tears in Heaven nor grief of any kind; I leave this final teardrop to those I’ve left behind. Though absent from the body, I’m present with the Lord; the joy of my salvation is now my full reward.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.currysfuneralhome.com.
