All-Canadian Academic

-

To be honoured as an Academic All-Canadian a student athlete must be a full-time student enrolled at Cape Breton University. This student-athlete must have received an 80 per cent average or better. The student-athlete must have been a member of Cape Breton University’s USports varsity team(s) and have used a year of eligibility for that sport.

We are very proud of our studentathletes for their all-round achievements. Our vision is creating champions both in the classroom and on the field of play and these student athletes exemplifies this vision. To achieve excellence in both academics and athletics speaks well to their talents and determination. We believe university sports help inspire leaders and allow our student-athletes to develop to their greatest potential as they experience the challenges and rewards of a quality academic and athletic program. Their success at blending both is evident with them receiving the honour of an Academic All-Canadian.

In 2015-2016 we had 17 of our studentathletes named Academic All-Canadian. I would also like to recognize and thank the outstanding partnership and contribution that the Cape Breton Credit Unions have made to CAPERS athletics over the last number of years. Through their involvement and support we have been able to publically recognize these fine student-athletes both in print as well as through an annual Academic All-Canadian luncheon. It has been a pleasure working with such professionals and community minded organization. The Cape Breton Credit Unions and our Academic All-Canadians have the same values and priorities. They both have the relentless pursuit of success that drives their achievements.

Also, a special thank you to our CAPERS Academic Advisor, Mr. Allan Fraser from the Shannon School of Business. Allan recently retired from his post at Cape Breton University and the Athletic Department and its student athletes wish him a restful and enjoyable retirement. Allan provided us with countless volunteer hours so that we could provide the academic support needed for our student-athletes to succeed and graduate with the hope they will be future leaders in communities around the globe.
