ROSE, John “Binky”

-

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our father John “Binky” Rose who suddenly, but peacefully passed away on February 8, 2017.

Our father was a much loved and respected man in Westmount and beyond.

Our father was a military man through and through and began serving his country in 1968. He later joined the Airborne and was a paratrooper who made over 300 jumps. 14 years after that he joined the construction engineers, and later 1CEU, where he made his decision to retire from the military and move back “home”. Even though he was retired that didn’t keep him still. For the next 20 years he was a park supervisor at Two Rivers Wildlife Park, a job he thoroughly enjoyed. He was also the Vice President and bar chairman at Branch 126, Westmount Legion. For 20 years he was also involved greatly with the Westmount Volunteer Fire department, where he served as their training officer. Our father was an avid hunter, fisher, and trapper, the ultimate woodsman. He was the strongest man we’ve ever know and the best grampy our children could have asked for.

He was predeceased by the love of his love, his wife, Maureen and his parents, Vince and Rose.

He is survived by his three children, Michelle, Joshua (Sara), and Melanie (Shaun); grandchildren, Sarah, Caleb, Jocelyn (Mike), Owen, Frankie, Molly, Miss Em, and his little buddy, James (Jam) also greatgrandson, Jaxen

Our father will be waked from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14th at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 15th at 11 a.m., in the Chants Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Sheldon Chant Officiating.
