HINCHEY, William ‘Billy’

It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of our dear father William Hinchey on February 12, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late William Joseph and Clara Frances (Petrie) Hinchey.

Billy is survived by sons, John (Patricia), Billy (Colleen), Troy (Jennifer), AB and Derrick, Ont; daughters, Willena (Wally) Jardine, Joan-Anne (Wayne) Morrison, Clara (Steve) McVarish, Bedford and Veronica (Ian) Jollimore, Halifax; sister, Mary Stella MacNeil, New Waterford and many grandchild­ren and great-grandchild­ren whom he loved dearly.

Billy’s career was part owner and also meat cutter at Hinchey’s Supermarke­t, his passion was being active, which included fly fishing in Margaree and watching many different sports such as baseball, golf and hockey. A good day for Da was spending time at his favorite Tim Hortons in Dominion followed by a walk on the boardwalk and feeding the birds.

Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by his loving wife, Willena (Tighe); brothers, Ambrose, Mike, Pat, John and Peter; sisters, Von, Helen, Theresa and Clara (Joanie) and grandson, Curtis James Hinchey.

A funeral service to celebrate Billy’s life will take place on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave. Burial in Mount Carmel Cemetery followed by a luncheon at the K.O.C. hall, Plummer Ave, all are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the SPCA where his three cats Bush, Meanie and Duffy came from, or the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

We would like to thank the wonderful care that Dad received from homecare the last two years which enabled Dad to be independen­t. We would also like to thank QE11 for their care on 6.2 the Cardiac Ward as well as C.B Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit and Doctor Kodagoda for his outstandin­g dedication to our Dad.
