HINCHEY, Wil­liam ‘Billy’

New Water­ford


It is with great sad­ness that we, the fam­ily an­nounce the pass­ing of our dear fa­ther Wil­liam Hinchey on February 12, 2017 at the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Hos­pi­tal sur­rounded by his lov­ing fam­ily. Born in New Water­ford, he was the son of the late Wil­liam Joseph and Clara Frances (Petrie) Hinchey.

Billy is sur­vived by sons, John (Pa­tri­cia), Billy (Colleen), Troy (Jen­nifer), AB and Der­rick, Ont; daugh­ters, Wil­lena (Wally) Jar­dine, Joan-Anne (Wayne) Mor­ri­son, Clara (Steve) McVar­ish, Bed­ford and Veron­ica (Ian) Jol­limore, Hal­i­fax; sis­ter, Mary Stella MacNeil, New Water­ford and many grand­chil­dren and great-grand­chil­dren whom he loved dearly.

Billy’s ca­reer was part owner and also meat cut­ter at Hinchey’s Su­per­mar­ket, his pas­sion was be­ing ac­tive, which in­cluded fly fishing in Mar­ga­ree and watch­ing many dif­fer­ent sports such as base­ball, golf and hockey. A good day for Da was spend­ing time at his fa­vorite Tim Hor­tons in Do­min­ion fol­lowed by a walk on the board­walk and feed­ing the birds.

Be­sides his parents, he was pre­de­ceased by his lov­ing wife, Wil­lena (Tighe); broth­ers, Am­brose, Mike, Pat, John and Peter; sis­ters, Von, He­len, Theresa and Clara (Joanie) and grand­son, Cur­tis James Hinchey.

A fu­neral ser­vice to cel­e­brate Billy’s life will take place on Wed­nes­day, February 15, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. in the Par­ish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave. Burial in Mount Carmel Ceme­tery fol­lowed by a lun­cheon at the K.O.C. hall, Plum­mer Ave, all are wel­come. In lieu of flow­ers, do­na­tions can be made to the SPCA where his three cats Bush, Meanie and Duffy came from, or the Pal­lia­tive Care Unit at the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Hos­pi­tal.

We would like to thank the won­der­ful care that Dad re­ceived from home­care the last two years which en­abled Dad to be in­de­pen­dent. We would also like to thank QE11 for their care on 6.2 the Cardiac Ward as well as C.B Re­gional Hos­pi­tal, Pal­lia­tive Care Unit and Doctor Kodagoda for his out­stand­ing ded­i­ca­tion to our Dad.
