Sydney Mines

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you…. 1 Peter 5:7

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Gram Alice Wolstenholme on February 15, 2017. Born in Sydney Mines on May 24, 1933, she was daughter of the late James and Mary (Bowen) Simpson. She was a member of Westminster Bible Presbyterian Church.

Gram was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved her family dearly and each new baby was accepted into her heart with grace and love.

Gram is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Don); son, Glen (Wanda) and sister, Marie Simpson. Also left to mourn Gram’s passing are her grandchildren, Jon, Jess, Ryan, Amanda, Matt, Kent, Nate and Aprille and her 11 great-grandchildren. They were her greatest treasures. She was loved by her nieces and nephews, cousins and friends and will be fondly remembered by all as ‘Gram’.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arch; son, Scott; daughter-inlaw, Marilyn; brothers, John, James, Louie, Ken (Simp), Buddy and great-grandson, Noah. A special thank you to Dr. Paul Hickey, the VON and the Northside Homemakers.

Visitation will be held at J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, 635 Main Street, Sydney Mines, on Friday February 17, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday at 1 p.m. in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, with the Reverend Dr. Marion Barclay MacKay officiating. The burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gram’s memory may be made to a church or charity of one’s choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com.

In my father’s house are many mansions…. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:2.
