We, the fam­ily, re­gret to an­nounce the pass­ing of our mother, grand­mother and sis­ter Mary Loretta McNeil, who died peace­fully sur­rounded by her loved ones at the Hal­i­fax In­fir­mary on Fe­bru­ary 11, 2017.

Mary de­voted her life to her fam­ily and to God, liv­ing self­lessly, only for oth­ers. She was a very warm and gen­uine in­di­vid­ual, who al­ways had a pot of tea on and a place at her table for any­one who needed it. Mary had great faith; she en­joyed at­tend­ing Mass and Daily Prayer.

Mary turned her house into a home, for not only her chil­dren and grand­chil­dren but also for many oth­ers. Her lov­ing and gen­er­ous heart con­tin­ues to give, even af­ter death by pro­vid­ing the gift of life through or­gan do­na­tion.

Mary is sur­vived by son, Tommy (Roseanne); daugh­ter, Kather­ine; three sis­ters, Dorothy, Kathy and Donna Marie (Jerry); brother, Ger­ard (Denise); six grand­chil­dren, Ivy, Ge­orge Thomas (GT), Chloe, Christo­pher, Devon and Lin­coln and nu­mer­ous nieces and neph­ews in­clud­ing spe­cial niece, Ash­ley.

She was pre­de­ceased by par­ents, Don­ald and Kath­leen; her hus­band, Tom; two brothers, Don­ald Char­lie and Don­nie, also one grand­child, Michael An­thony.

Vis­i­ta­tion for Mary will take place on Sun­day, Fe­bru­ary 19, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Pat­ten Funeral Home 71 Union St., Glace Bay.

Funeral ser­vice will be held on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 20 at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church Glace Bay.
