It is with great sad­ness and love that we, the fam­ily, an­nounce the pass­ing of Ray­mond Pastuck, age 86, on Fe­bru­ary 11, 2017 at the New Water­ford Hospi­tal sur­rounded by his lov­ing wife and fam­ily by his side. Ray­mond was a lov­ing hus­band, fa­ther, grand­fa­ther, great-grand­fa­ther, un­cle and friend. Born on July 22, 1930 in New Water­ford to Bar­ney and Lil­lian (Mat­lock) Pastuck.

Ray­mond was a proud and hard­work­ing coal miner and was em­ployed at No. 12, 26 and Lin­gan col­lieries. Ray­mond was a truly amaz­ing and tal­ented man, a jack of all trades and mas­ter of most. He could fix or build any­thing from re­pair­ing au­to­mo­biles to build­ing and up keep­ing his own home, whether it was car­pen­try, plumb­ing or elec­tri­cal he could do it all. While work­ing in the coal mines, he was con­sid­ered a dy­namo by his fel­low min­ers and of­ten would be sought af­ter for ad­vice in how to ac­com­plish a task both ef­fi­ciently and safely. In fact, when the Min­ers Mu­seum came into be­ing they re­quired a large piece of coal to be dis­played proudly at the en­trance to the mu­seum and man­age­ment of the mine re­quested Ray­mond and a cou­ple of his peers to find the piece.

Ray­mond is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife of sixty four years, San­dra (Hal­nuck); his four chil­dren, daugh­ter, Debby (Ar­den) White, Scotch­town; sons, Kevin (Betty Ann), Annapolis Val­ley, Ron­nie, River Ryan and Wel­don (Cather­ine) Pastuck, Lin­gan; grand­chil­dren, Ray­mond, Tyrra (Robert), Stacey, Micheal (Jill), Matthew (Ch­eryl), Amanda (Marty), Wel­don (Krista), Joseph, Christo­pher (Re­becca); 16 great-grand­chil­drten and many nieces and neph­ews.

Ray­mond is also sur­vived by sib­lings, Hilda MacK­in­non (John, de­ceased), New Water­ford and Kenny (Agnes) Pastuck, Scotch­town; sis­tersin-law, Mary and Kit Pastuck, both of River Ryan and Betty Pastuck, Glace Bay.

Be­sides his par­ents, he was pre­de­ceased by brothers, Ge­orge, Tony, Dave, Rus­sell Pastuck.

Vis­i­ta­tion will take place on Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 17, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9. A chapel ser­vice to cel­e­brate Ray­mond’s life will be held on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Dea­con Leo Penny of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial in St. Michaels Ceme­tery fol­lowed by a lun­cheon at the parish hall, Con­vent Street, all are welcome.
