With bro­ken hearts we an­nounce the peace­ful pass­ing of Stephen Alexan­der (Pen­der) MacAdam, age 58, on Mon­day, Fe­bru­ary 13, 2017.

Stephen was born May 20, 1958 in Glace Bay, Nova Sco­tia and passed away sur­rounded by his lov­ing fam­ily at the An Cala Unit, Cape Breton Re­gional Hospi­tal, fol­low­ing a coura­geous 10 month bat­tle with cancer.

He leaves to mourn his pass­ing his beloved wife of 31 years, Kather­ine (MacLeod) MacAdam; his cher­ished sons, Matthew (Kaleigh) MacAdam, Grant MacAdam and the light of his life his beau­ti­ful grand­daugh­ter, Emmi MacAdam and grand­dog, Rem­ing­ton.

Stephen is sur­vived by his sib­lings, Michael (Ann) MacAdam, Mira; sis­ter, Joan (Vince) Nick­elo, Shube­nacadie and sis­ter, Delores (Aron Ga­bor) MacAdam Perth, On­tario; sis­ters-in-law, Sally (Don­ald) MacLeod, Glace Bay and Beth MacLeod, North Van­cou­ver; nieces, Ja­clyn (Scott) MacDon­ald, Lau­rel MacAdam, Laura (Nathan Giroux) Nick­elo, Vic­to­ria Cow­ell and Sara Nick­elo; neph­ews, Pa­trick MacAdam, Alex (Heidi) Nick­elo, Ge­off (Jas­mine) Nick­elo, An­drew MacAdam, John MacLeod and Daniel (Al­li­son Toomey) MacLeod. Also sur­vived by life­long best friend, Bar­rie (Ethel) Camp­bell; step-fa­ther, Phonse Jes­some and nu­mer­ous cousins & friends.

Stephen was pre­de­ceased by his par­ents, Stephen F MacAdam and Eve­lyn (MacDon­ald) MacAdam-Jes­some; in-laws, Don­ald G and Reta MacLeod; grand­par­ents, Alex ( The Beveler) Blanche MacDon­ald and Rod­er­ick and Josie MacAdam.

Stephen had a life­long love of hockey and played in nu­mer­ous rep teams grow­ing up in­clud­ing the Glace Bay Ju­nior Min­ers. He was a proud hockey coach to his sons and en­joyed the past few years play­ing as their team­mate. Golf was an­other pas­sion and he was a mem­ber of Lin­gan Golf and Coun­try Club for sev­eral years.

Stephens work life in­cluded Sales with Sears in Glace Bay and New Water­ford, In­sur­ance sales with Blue Cross and In­dus­trial Al­liance, CBVRSB and ended his work­ing ca­reer as a la­borer with LIUNA lo­cal 92.

Vis­i­ta­tion will be at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay, on Fri­day, Fe­bru­ary 17, from 6-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be cel­e­brated 10 a.m. on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 18, at St Anne’s Church, Glace Bay with the Rev Leo Boone of­fi­ci­at­ing.

The in­ter­ment will be at For­est Haven Me­mo­rial Gar­dens at a later date.
