With heavy hearts we an­nounce the pass­ing of our dear fa­ther, brother, son and lov­ing part­ner Ger­ard Phillip MacKin­non, age 53, af­ter a coura­geous bat­tle with can­cer.

Ger­ard passed away peace­fully on Fri­day, Feb. 24, 2017 at home sur­rounded by his lov­ing fam­ily and friends.

Grow­ing up in New Water­ford, NS, Ger­ard was the son of Carol (Hawco) and the late Phillip MacKin­non.

He was known for his love of sports, es­pe­cially the Toronto Maple Leafs, as well as his great sense of hu­mour and strong work ethic. He had a pas­sion for car­pen­try and will be greatly missed by his col­leagues and friends at MECO.

He is sur­vived by his lov­ing part­ner, Lisa De­laney; son, Jonathan (Melissa); daugh­ter, Shelby (Mike); Lisa’s chil­dren, Kyle, Al­isha and Cody; mother, Carol; sis­ter, Karen (Rob) Bourque; brother, Richard (Jen­nifer) MacKin­non; nieces, So­nia (Colton) Bag­nell & Carolyn Bourque (Law­son) and his spe­cial lit­tle bud­dies, Em­mett, Reece and Gizmo. He will also be missed greatly by his nu­mer­ous aunts, un­cles, cousins and close friends.

As per Ger­ard’s wishes, cre­ma­tion has taken place and there will be no visi­ta­tion.

A chapel ser­vice will take place on Mon­day, Feb. 27, 2017 at 11 a.m. in the fu­neral home chapel with Fr. Nor­man McPhee of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Burial will be held in Mount Carmel Ceme­tery fol­lowed by a lun­cheon at the parish hall, con­vent street, all are wel­come.
