MUR­PHY, Robert Fran­cis ‘Choco­lates’

It is with great sad­ness that we, the fam­ily, an­nounce the pass­ing of Robert Fran­cis ‘Choco­lates’ Mur­phy, 48, of New Water­ford on Satur­day, Fe­bru­ary 25, 2017.

Robert was born on June 6, 1968 in Na­pa­nee, On­tario to An­toinette (Roach) Mur­phy and the late Ray­mond Mur­phy.

Robert was known for his great sense of hu­mour and al­ways lend­ing a help­ful hand. He al­ways loved mak­ing the kids laugh and was a big kid at heart. Robert was very proud of his sons and adored them. In younger years, he en­joyed play­ing soc­cer and was a mem­ber of the NSSAF pro­vin­cial win­ning high school soc­cer team at Bre­ton Ed­u­ca­tion Cen­tre in 1985. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Robert leaves be­hind his three sons, Rob­bie, Jar­rett, and Stephen; spe­cial friend, Sherry McKin­non (mother of his sons, Rob­bie and Jar­rett). He lived with and will also leave be­hind his mother, An­toinette Mur­phy; three sis­ters, Paulette (Greg), Jan­nette (Bill), Rose (Al­lan); one brother, Ray­mond (Ann); eight nieces and neph­ews; 10 great-nieces and neph­ews and many friends.

Robert was pre­de­ceased by his fa­ther, Ray­mond Mur­phy.

Visi­ta­tion will be held on Fri­day, March 3, 2017 from 3 p.m. un­til the time of the funeral ser­vice at 4 p.m. all in V.J. McGil­livray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Water­ford, with Dea­con Leo Penny of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Cre­ma­tion will fol­low with burial in Mount Carmel Ceme­tery at a later date.

A lun­cheon will take place at the Army, Navy, Air­force, Unit 217, New Water­ford im­me­di­ately fol­low­ing the funeral ser­vice. Do­na­tions in his mem­ory may be made to Men­tal Health Ser­vices at the Cape Bre­ton Re­gional Hos­pi­tal, Syd­ney.
