We, the family, wish to announce the passing of Joe Butts, 74, much loved father, grandfathe­r, brother, and uncle on Sunday, February 26,2017 at New Waterford Hospital, surrounded by his family. Joe lived in Port Morien, the son of Harvey and Barbara (Clements) Butts.

Joe was a constructi­on worker, fisherman and truck driver for H. Hopkins and other companies. An avid outdoorsma­n, he enjoyed hunting and ice fishing. He enjoyed collecting old cars and working on cars. Musically inclined, he played drums in the band Country Rain in his younger days. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 55 and a member of St. John’s United Church.

Joe is survived by daughter, Tanya Butts(Ontario) and her children, Morgan, Mason and Maryn Aucoin and daughter, Carvell Blois (New Brunswick); companion, Georgeann Roberts; brothers, Gordon (Annie), Charles (Barbara), Eric (Donna) and sister, June (Late Earl) Cathcart and many nieces and nephews, especially nephew, Harvey Butts who travelled to Halifax with him.

Besides his parents, he was predecease­d by his wife, Mary (Newell).

Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home.

There will be no visitation per Joe’s wishes. A graveside service will follow at a late date.

Donations in Joe’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of one’s choice.
