Mary Josephine (Clark) MacKinnon, age 85, of Margaree Harbour passed away peacefully at home on February 27, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was the chosen daughter of Rannie and Jessie MacDougall, Margaree Forks. In keeping with the tradition of the MacDougall family, Mary worked for many years as a post mistress in a number of the post offices in the Margarees. Mom was a spiritual women and her life was guided by her deep faith. She served her parish in many ways including being an active member of St. Michael’s CWL for over 55 years and a founding member of the parish prayer group. Mom believed in working to build a better world and gave her time as a leader in both the 4H and Girl Guide movements.

Mom was predecease­d by her husband, John L. MacKinnon.

Mary is survived by her children, Elaine (Fred) MacLeod, North Sydney, Linda (Leo) MacDougall, Cole Harbour, Janice, Halifax, Lauchie (Noella), Gerard (Barbara) and Brendan (Lisa) all of Margaree Harbour; grandchild­ren, Andrew, Jonathan, Matthew, Rebecca, Erin (Will), Ian (Katelyn), Kaela, John L., Nolan, Malcolm, Robert, Jessie, Ryder, Emma, Lynn and Breagh; great grandchild­ren, Georgia and Elijah.

She was predecease­d by her infant son, James Bernard; grandchild­ren, John Ronald and Joseph Anthony and son-in-law, Leo MacDougall.

Mom always cherished her relationsh­ip with her MacKinnon in-laws and their families.

Myles (Marge) Mac Kinnon, Carmella (Michael) LeBlanc, Chris (Roy) Cameron, Angus L. (Anne) MacKinnon, Marie (Jim) Guilford and Sally MacKinnon and her many nieces and nephews.

A sincere thank you to the entire Health Care Team who provided exemplary care for Mom during her illness. Their personal touch brought pleasure to her day.

Visitation will be from 2-4, 7-9 Thursday, March 2, 2017 at St. Michaels Parish Hall East Margaree.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday March 3 11 a.m. at St. Michaels Church East Margaree with Fr Macdonald Ibeh officiatin­g. Burial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Palliative Care or a charity of one’s choice.

Arrangemen­ts are under the care of Cheticamp Funeral Home.
