It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Marilyn Detchevery, 62 on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Regional Hospital, Sydney.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Susan (McWhirter) Boutilier.

Marilyn was well known as a paper carrier with the Cape Breton Post for several years. She enjoyed gardening and playing bingo. She will be remembered as a very passionate lady who had a great sense of humor.

Marilyn is survived by one daughter, Holly (Chad) MacDonald; two sons, Brad (Cathy), Jason (Danielle); five sisters, Mary (Fran), Vivian, Linda (Joe), Janet and Debbie.

Marilyn will be deeply missed by her grandchild­ren, Robyn, Tessa, Chloe, Bryson, Hayden and one grandson on the way.

Marilyn was predecease­d by her husband, Marcel Detchevery in 2007; three brothers, Roy, Wayne and Chickie Boutilier.

Cremation has taken place. A funeral service, officiated by Fr. Dan Boudreau will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the V.J. McGillivra­y Funeral Home Chapel, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Interment in MacLeod’s Crossing Cemetery, Reserve Mines at a later date.
