It is with great sadness we announce the death of our Mother, Sarah ‘Sally/Diddy’ Doyle in Bedford, NS and formerly of Coxheath, Cape Breton on February 28th 2017. She was 93 years old.

She was a woman who lived a long and healthy life. Mom was born on September 1st 1923 in Sydney NS to Roderick and Mary (MacNeil) MacDonald, Glebe Avenue.

She is survived by a sister, Dolena MacMillan, Coxheath; her children, Brian (Suzanne Varley), Halifax, Blair (Sharon Parks), Dartmouth and Dorothy (Don Lutz), Fall River. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Doyle-Willis, Chris Lutz, Catherine Lutz (Natashia, Anthony); great-grandchildren, (twins) Peter and Jack Lutz and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by brothers, Roddie (Niki), Stevie and Angus MacDonald and a sister in infancy.

Mom attended Sacred Heart Parish and Holy Angels Convent in Sydney. She married Dad, Lloyd ‘Buff’ Doyle at Sacred Heart Church on September 11th 1945. They lived for many years in O’Neil’s Court, Sydney and for several years in Goose

Bay, Labrador where Dad was employed by Trans Canada Airlines (TCA) now known as Air Canada. On their return to Cape Breton, Mom and Dad settled in their new home in Coxheath. Mom was employed at Crowell’s Dept. Store and often recanted stories from her work life in the China/Housewares Dept. Mom and Dad were avid TV viewers never missing a TV hockey or baseball game. They enjoyed their many trips to Iona where Mom also spent her summers at her parent’s bungalow. The joy of card playing was handed down from her parents to her and then to her children and grandchildren.
