Heaven has another angel, with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving, husband, father, papa, brother, uncle and friend.

Wendell (65) left this life on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Reserve Mines, he was the son of the late Angus and Kaye (McIvor) McNeil.

Following his education at St. FX, he enjoyed a 32 year career

as a dedicated teacher with the CB District School Board until his retirement in 2006.

In their retirement, Wendell and Shelly spent several winters in Florida at Melody Gardens in St Petersburg where they were surrounded by and always enjoyed the company of many friends.

He enjoyed many rounds of golf with his buddy’s and of course always happy to go for a walk, no matter the weather or his condition; moving forward chanting ‘One Day at a time’.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Shelly; son, Mathew and daughter, Jan (Mike) Brewer; the light of his life, grandchild­ren, Sarah B, Malachai, Hannah, Sunni and Daisy; brothers, Angus, Milton, Bruce (Kelly) and Bradley (Paula); sisters, Glenda Fournier, Karen Howarth, Chris (Larry) Boutlier and Priscilla (Mike) MacDonald; serval nieces and nephews and members of the Gardiner family.

Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Josephs Parish, Reserve Mines, followed by a celebratio­n of his life at the T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St, Glace Bay, 902-849-4199.

Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t lengthen it now with undue grief, lift up your heart and share with me God wanted me now, He has set me free.
