-

With heavy hearts we, the family of Emma Gertrude Jobes, 90, announce her passing on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the Northside General Hospital.

Born on February 8, 1927, she was the daughter of the late George and Margaret Devoe.

In her earlier years, Emma was a Pediatric Nursing Assistant. She was very passionate about her career, and cared deeply about all her patients. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening. In recent years, she enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter and Jillian Gray, drinking tea and eating oatcakes. She enjoyed going for drives, and shopping at the mall. Another large part of her life was her cat Lucy, who she loved dearly.

Emma is survived by her granddaughter and joy of her life, Natasha McGean; grandson, Glen Robert (Natalie), and her great-grandson, Hudson McGean. Also left to mourn are her sister, Theresa Warren; sonin-law, Glen McGean; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Alphonse Jobes; daughter, Rogene McGean; brothers, Kelly, Jack, Garfield, George, Raymond and William and sisters, Mary and Emma Devoe.

Special thanks to Dr. Kohlsmith, Dr. Coish, and the nursing staff at the Northside General Hospital.

There will be no visitation. A celebration of her life will take place on Monday, March 6, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, Sydney Mines, with Fr. Jake Andrea officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Emma’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
