MACKAY, Mary (Raney)

Mary, age 95, Grand River, passed away Thursday March 9, 2017, peacefully at the Richmond Villa, St. Peters, NS.

Born in Point Michaud, she was the daughter of the late Michael Raney and Mary Agnes (Gracie).

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family, being predecease­d by all eight siblings, Johnny Raney, Agnes Matheson, Martha Gracie, Betty Dube, Mickey Raney, Joe Raney, Kittie Raney and Richard Raney. She was also predecease­d by her husband, Duncan MacKay (the love of her life), after being married for only 12 short years. We hope they are reunited and watching over all of us once again.

She is survived by her son, Sandy (Melissa), Airdrie, Alberta; and her daughter, Mary Agnes (Ed), Halifax Nova Scotia. She is also survived by her grandchild­ren, Mark and Ashley Moar and Duncan and Connor MacKay. For those of you who knew Mary, her grandchild­ren were her pride and joy and she spoiled them every chance she had.

Visitation will be held at the Grand River Presbyteri­an Church from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2017.

Funeral service at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017 with Rev. Corrie Stewart officiatin­g. Reception to follow in the Grand River Fire Hall.

Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or any char- ity.

The family would like to thank Mary’s special friends, Judy and Sandy Morrison who have been friends of the family for many years but in the last 8 years (since Mary’s stroke) have been there for Mary and her family every day. The family would also like to thank the staff of the Richmond Villa for the kind and compassion­ate care our mother received while in their care as well as their compassion for her family during this difficult time.
