Whitney Pier resident Evan Romard used to freestyle after school with his friends, when they’d turn on an instrumental version of a song and have fun trying to out-rap each other.

Fast-forward to today and Romard, better known on the local music scene by his stage name of Trill, has just released a music video. Meanwhile, he’s currently working on a mix tape set to drop at the end of the summer.

The title of the music video is “Pier Pressure” and can be found on his personal YouTube channel, Trill-Nation Music.

Since posting his first video a couple years ago, Trill has gained a good amount of views on his videos, peaking at 13,000 views.

He has always had a passion for rap music and decided to pursue it.

“It’s hard to chase a dream and fulfill it if you don’t have a dream,” he said.

Trill’s main goal is to try to create a voice for his community, to help other local talent come forward, while at the same time creating his music he looks to be an inspiration to thers.

“I want to be able to help the younger generation find a passion and stick to it and pursue it. Whether it’s a band or someone who can sing. I want people to see what I’m doing and say ‘hey, I can do that too.’”

Trill also takes this into consideration when writing his music.

“I want my music to be able to help people through a breakup or a hard time in their life. Not just rap about liquor and drugs.”

Trill plans on pursuing his music career and hopes to one day doing it professionally.

“’I’m just going to try to follow my dreams and then see where it takes me.”
