Edwardsville

-

It is with great sadness that we the family announce the passing of our dear mother, March 14, 2017

Born in Sydney on June 4, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Eminah (Smith) Holley. Emily worked at the Steel Plant Union office before marriage; later at the TB Hospital switchboard in Edwardsville and taught typing at night school.

She loved life, family and had a great appreciation for even the smallest acts of kindness. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1971 and was active in the ministry into her 80’s, keeping a firm hope of Gods future kingdom on Earth, we pray for.

Emily is survived by her three sons, John Lewis (Sadie), Sydney, Reg Lewis (Leona), Edwardsville and Alan Lewis, Edwardsville; two daughters, Edith Lewis-Jabalee (Richard), Edwardsville and Ruth Lewis, Edwardsville; one granddaughter, Jennifer Collins (Shawn), Ottawa and one grandson, Michael Lewis, Sydney.

Besides her parents Emily is predeceased by her dear husband, Reginald Lewis; infant daughter, Emily Barbara; two sisters, Edith Gillis and Marion Carson; daughter-in-law, Sadie and her second husband, Parnell Williams.

The family would like to thank all those who showed mom kindness at The Cove Guest Home, the nurses on 3B and staff of Palliative Care at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be Friday March 17, 2017 from 6-9 p.m. at the SW Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra Street, Sydney.
