It is with sadness we announce the passing of Mary Mills, age 95, a former lifelong resident of 5th Street, in the hub. Mary passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Seaview Manor in Glace Bay where she had been a resident for the past eight years.

Born in Glace Bay Mary was the daughter of the late Michael and Isabelle MacLeod.

Mary is survived by her daughter-in-law, Patricia Mills, Glace Bay; cherished grandchild­ren, Earl (April) Mills, Tanya (Sean) Gillis, Chris (Jen) Mills, Denise and Walter MacPhee; great grandchild­ren, Scott, Evan, Hunter, Lila Gillis, Zoe, Blake, Ali Mills and Mark MacPhee.

Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Besides her parents, Mary was predecease­d by her loving husband, Earl; son, Wayne and daughter, Karen MacPhee; brothers, Alex, Bernie, Michael, John ‘Ginger’, Francis and Billy; sisters, Theresa, Rita and Shirley.

Family was the main focus in her life. Mary was very kind to her many siblings. She also enjoyed bingo and outings at the casino.

A family visitation will be held Friday, March 17, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main Street, Glace Bay. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay with Fr. Leo Boone officiatin­g. A luncheon will be held in the church foyer. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery at later date.

Family flowers only please. Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to Seaview Manor or a charity of choice.

The family would like to thank Seaview Manor for the many years of excellent care Mary received.
