It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving mother, wife, sister and grandmothe­r, Anastacia (Anna) Caverzan, age 85, of New Waterford. Anna passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at St. Catherine’s General Hospital, Ontario.

Born in New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Mombourque­tte) Springall. She was a devoted member of the former Mount Carmel Church and most recently St. Leonard’s Church, both in New Waterford. Anna was former president and longtime volunteer with the New Waterford St. Vincent DePaul Society Food Bank. She also served as president for many years of the Mount Carmel/St. Leonard’s Catholic Women’s League (CWL). Anna volunteere­d each year for the New Waterford Combined Christmas Giving campaign. She served as a board member of the New Waterford Home Care Society, and was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus (KOC) Ladies Auxiliary. Anna also served as a board member of the Cape Breton District School Board. Anna was very active in the Church choir and as a reader. Anna also served as an appeal board member for the Department of Community Services.

Anna will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 64 years, Reno Caverzan; daughter, Rena McCormick with whom she resided, Niagara Falls, Carol Caverzan, Windsor, Ontario and her son, Eric (Sheila) Caverzan, Coxheath, NS. She is also survived by her brothers, Joe, Ron, Ernie and Reggie Springall; her four grandchild­ren, Ian, Jessica and Charles William McCormick, Niagara Falls, and Nicholas Caverzan, Coxheath NS. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Beside her parents, she was predecease­d by her brothers, David, Al and Bernie Springall and her sisters, Shirley Lavigne, Jeannette Pasher and Eileen Martell. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place in Niagara Falls.

A celebratio­n of Anna’s life will take place at a future date.
